On Blogging & Friends

I had recently received 2 special notes from 2 different friends on how I had inspired them to start their own blog. I am grateful for those comments and to be frank I have never thought that I had made such impact on blogging especially among my friends.

Come to think about it, I am now entering my 5th year of blogging and it had been the better platform for me to express myself better. And through blogging, I had made many new friends, be it readers or people I met during some gathering. The name MikeMmery had been a part of me, people who know me through here would recognize me by that name although going back my 600 over postings here, the name itself had a significant meaning to me, but I had since moved on.

Introducing The PurpleV Heart authored by Cynthia Chen. In fact, the chemistry I had with her is mainly through the cyberworld, despite that, she got to know me better through my blog and had been at times a very very loyal listener to me on my very personal stuff. Thanks for the nice words you dropped on facebook and I am glad that you started your own blog as that will draw me closer to your world. And babe, I MISS YOU!!!

And yesterday a very dear ex-colleague of mine, Ms. Seow, had started her own blog as well, check out Blog with miee. And Ms. Seow, thanks for giving me the chance to be part of LG Life's Good Blog family! Thanks for listening to my suggestions and put LG Electronics as the first electronics company in Malaysia to start its own blog, it's a feat that I am very very proud of! And keep the blogging spirit alive ya!

Time to go, till then... c u peeps soon!

Nuffnang Removed Me From Glitterati

The joy of blogging from my new toy was shortlived when I found this message while trying to ping my post into innit. I hope this is an error and this is pretty demotivating as I had been pro-Nuffnang as a blogger & a client.

Sad... damn sad...

UPDATES (12.45PM): Robb of Nuffnang emailed me, my membership will be restored, it is going to take about 4 days. This is due to the reason that I registered 2 blogs under the same account, and I had recently deleted the other abandoned blog from blogspot. Thanks Robb for the prompt feedback!!!

Earning With Blogging

It felt just like yesterday, this year I am entering my 4th year blogging at this site. I am still an idiot to be frank on some jargons, whatever SEO or search optimization, blah blah blah... Even this decent design of my blog was done by fellow blogger Splashmilk. I just write when I am inspired to regardless how many unique or visitors actually read my blog.

I think (not sure) my readers are mainly comprising of my friends, family members, relatives, people close at my heart, colleagues, my bosses & even my clients. Perhaps this blog is the other side of me which they find interesting. Perhaps so, I am not sure.

I blogged about everything under the sun, politics, love, my trips, food I ate, my relationships, etc. 4 years ago, there was no Nuffnang. But I did played a minor role in my day job shortlisting "big bloggers" to review some of the products that my company carries such as mobile phones. There was a blogger who charged my company as high as RM4000/post but his traffic was high back then. Most of the big bloggers charge averagely about RM2000/post. Good money huh?

I know I shouldn't have share this piece of info but then let this piece of info inspire those who really have passion for blogging to seriously think of this as a profesion. There are not many big bloggers, just handful of them and people who read blogs will definitely bump into their blogs before.

Then come Nuffnang, earnings not much but no complain isn't it? Our main agenda as blogger is still writing quality piece. Best thing about Nuffnang is every blogger can register it, whether you are big or small and of cos if you are as big as the coconut, your purse will definitely be thicker than small fry just like me. Though small, thanks to Nuffnang, I do have a few hundreds in my account, no complain. Give it a shot for a start.

And on Google Adsense, this is something I could not be bother to even analyze it. You must be good in some search engine optimization and high page rank which I do not what the hell was that.

And this year, besides maintaining my own journal here, I am looking forward to managing another virgin blog from a MNC and some of its online campaigns. I never expect to be selected but when the call come and in view of the dollar & cent, I grabbed the opportunity. It is still under progress and will share once it's in the execution stage.

So bloggers there, you might not be big but opportunities are everywhere. With the additional portfolio, I hope I can still blog as much as I can here but I assure you people I am gonna bring more love & peace to my readers during this sorry state of recession.

Cheer up! My wedding coming soon....

How To Attract Innit Nuffnangers To Nang You?

Most of the time my traffic will come from the Malaysia's No.1 blog aggregator, Project Petaling Street. But on a beautiful quiet rainy Sunday today, I did not post up a very much anticipated political drama and yet I have a decent uniques today thanks to innit-nuffnang. So curious, I did a bit of research which I felt would be useful for new nuffies who are utilizing innit.

Post up anything related to sex! As long as you can relate any word in English vocab that can be related to sex, you will definitely be nang-ed, I can god guaran-DAMN-tee that. It's proven! I made a quick check on the top 10 most popular innit post, whether it is all time popular, monthly, weekly or even the last 24 hours, anything related to sex will make it to the top 10. So write about sex, like I wrote about how a friend MSN me to talk about his kukujiao got infected by pimples. Even after famous DANG-ers like Tiuniasing danged, trust me, you will still be in the top 10. For no reason though, I seem to enjoy the danging from Tiuniasing, he had with him self-made fame (thinking out of the box), smart ass.

Another keyword that will attract nangs would be anything related to Nuffnang (for eg: innit, nuffies). It seems like nuffies enjoy reading about sex & nuffnang. Politics can never really make it to the top though.

Besides applying the right keyword, you can attract nangs but nanging others but of course I believe while you nanging others, your self ego will prevent you from nanging those who already got many many nangs, so that you got a chance to get to the top 10. Haha... got you there other guilty nuffnangers! If your post title is boring and yet you made it to the top 10, it is either you are freaking active in the chatbox or you nang a lot on other post so out of courtesy the other nuffnangers will nang you back.

Thanks for all the nangs from the previous post. Hope the tips above can trigger some other new nuffnangers to do something about their post. As for me, I blogged about shits, theoritically I am not good at writing about sex, I am good practically :)

When is the next whatever nuffnang gathering you nuffnangers organizing? Never really booze-ing with any of them though.

Cheers!

I Am A "RSS Feed" Dummy

With blogs as the alternative media, most of the netizens will subscribe to some RSS feed. To be frank, I do not even know what 'RSS' stands for. All I know is that once you subscribe to that particular blog/weblog, you will receive notification whenever there is an update from them.

As a blogger myself for 3 years, I have no fucking idea it is important to my blog. Perhaps I am just a bit ignorant about it. So today, came back to KL, surfing & checking my site. I was shocked to see that my feedburner box that used to have 40 subscribed readers dropped to like 4 readers. As much as I guess, there were something went wrong with my feed. I explore a bit here and there and checking validity of my feed and found too many errors that I have no idea how to correct it. I took shortcut, removed the original feed and create a new one via feedburner and it is working again but the sad part of it was previous readers all gone already.

So if you like MikeMmery, click on the icon below to subscribe to it. Support a bit lah, don't so kiam-siap lah :P

And while googling about RSS, I found some really cute RSS Feed icons that I thought would be nice to share with my readers. I uploaded the big file, perhaps you guys have to be a bit hardworking to do the resizing and fit it into your sidebar. Enjoy!

And this one below, I thought is the cutest of all.

All Blogs 100 Days @ Blog House

The Alliance of Bloggers' 100 Days night was all fun. There are reasons why I prefer this gathering rather than the animal nuffnang party. One of them is that there is no obligation to write any post like most of the events nuffnang organizes these days all nuffnang gathering that I attended, I had never written anything before, all due to invitation extension to me. And being actively a reader for political blogs, it always feels good to meet people who I regard them as "heroes" of Malaysia. Pretty relax and these bloggers who are fighting for a better Malaysia are all really nice bunch and do not have the tag of "celebrity bloggers" like most nuffnang party fills with.

Tony Yew is kind enough to extend his invitation to me, although I am also working for LG (LG is one of the sponsors for the event), so I am attending as one of the bloggers. Cool lad with good auction skills.

The star of the night was none other than RPK himself, this is my second meeting with him, the first was at a ceramah before the GE. He is always charismatic as usual and down to earth. In fact, that particular day, he came immediately to the Blog House after spending hours at the Sentul police station.

Thanks to the sponsors of the night, LG contributed 4 phones in total. 3 phones were given out as lucky draw prizes that night and the other additional phone will be a SECRET. Go check out other political blogs to figure out how to win this additional phone. Picture below is KS Park (Senior Product Manager for LG) & the famous Uncle Rocky.

With all the petrol price hike, we surely need this. Kind contribution by AirAsia, trips to Bali damn, I need a getaway!!!. Picture below AirAsia GM Aziz Bakar with Rocky.

I did not took many pictures myself though. Managed to get one with Uncle Bernard & TV Smith. And also not forgetting the MP for Kelana Jaya, YB Loh Gwo Burne & his brother Gordon.

Oh ya, Josh Lim was there too. Well, there maybe a thing or two disagreement between us but that night we had fun right Josh? No hard feelings mate. And Boss Stewie was not seen which is rather weird as Jeff & AirAsia were there. And picture below Kerp with LG Marketing Exec Nicole & LG promoter.

And the only MP from BN, Jerlun YB Mukhriz Mahathir, he definitely made the difference. But the night is unique, as per RPK say, the night at Blog House, everyone comes together discarding their (political) differences.

Other prominent bloggers who were there last night - Nuraina @ 3540 Jln Sudin, Malik @ Disquiet, YB Jeff Ooi, BigDog, Haris @ People's Parliament, YB Ronnie Liu & apology if anyone that I miss out. Oh ya, a big celebrity joined us too. For more pictures do pimp Jinggo.

Thanks to all the sponsors for prizes though I win no shit. It was definitely a very nice outing though some did not, I don't know why. And after Blog House, I went to another LG event at Maison Heritage Row, more pictures tomorrow.

Cheers!

All Blogs 100 Days & Nuffnang New Poll

I will be attending the above event tonight @ Blog House , No. 66 Lorong Setiabestari 2, Bukit Damansara, 50490 KL. If any of you bloggers & readers there, do say hello ya. Event details here.

In between, I also started a new poll thanks to the nuffnang widget. I started the poll not because I want to defame anyone, just to listen how other Malaysians or foreigners who are reading mikemmery feels. Do participate.

Personally I am a bit tired of all this uncertainties happening in this country, with all the buttfucking news flaming around, tired & disgusted. It had come to a point that the word "Malaysia" becoming the laughing stock of the world because of this.

I have a sister who is residing in Hong Kong, I have Malaysian buddies who work in Singapore, Japan, The States & England. None of these wise buddies of mine have a second thought to come back Malaysia. Frankly, our country is not that bad after all, really. Looking around, people of different cultures, races & religions, we can sit together and watch football at mamak, we are a harmonious bunch. But with the worsening economy state and people have less disposable income to spend, it makes the people restless & felt like living in a pressure cooker.

Myself, I have a decent lifestyle but I do feel the pinch very much with all the hikes and policies by our current administrator. I look at other countries, human rights are so great, people can speak, choose, practice without fear. Here, we do not have that privilege. Only bloggers dare to speak out, even that we bloggers also at risk of being arrested, caged, with laptop seized. These are all the fears. My parents, my family, my close buddies advised me to tone down the way of my political posts in this blog but frankly I am not political incline to BN or PKR, but I am more towards to those who can get things done. Not everyone can be politician, those who can must live up to that pressure and people's expectation.

It's a joke at times, for example our Prime Minister, I am wondering how can he stands side by side with other PMs from other countries with his rotten English, with his images caught sleeping, with him honeymooning with his wife, with him officiating Nasi Kandar shop while the people in Johor experienced the worst flood ever. All this are not mere gossips to smear his name, all this are supported with facts & pictures. I am ashame not because I am Malaysian, I am ashame because I have such a PM who always lie to his people which is us the "rakyat"

Enough said, I shall be equipped with my camera for BlogHouse later.

Have a great weekend!

Updates: In between, I will be joining the PROTES rally tomorrow (05/07/2008; 10AM) at Stadium Kelana Jaya. For the betterment of Malaysia, let's join.

Life @ 30

This post is specially dedicated to one of my best friend in high school, Michael Ang. This post is to welcome Yu Chen to the world. Buddy, congrats & I am seriously happy for you.

Not many of my close buddies who I grew up with have settle down. I have not seriously thought of settling down after my previous relationship. But I do open up myself to welcome a fresh start for this girl who I am fond with but unfortunately she still felt doubtful on certain things about me. To all my readers who thought I am attached all this while - No, I am not attached. Yes, I am seeing someone as a 'special' friend. How long does this 'special' friend relationship be dragged, I am unsure myself too.

Seeing my best buddy's first child on video did gave me a certain rush of emotions. I love kids, I always do. Even the girls that I got involved with in the past commented that if I ever have kids, I will neglect the wife. I like to be surrounded by kids, I like the way they pester you at times to play with them. Then I think to myself, is this a sign that I am desperate to have a family of myself? My family, I know my dad & mom eagerly waiting for that day as I am the eldest in my family. Mom & Dad, if you are reading this (they are my readers as well), your son is working very hard towards it.

I had mellowed down a lot on my work. I used to work late hours, forcing myself to be in office although I can be home. But lately, I felt tired with work. Tired at times having to face pretenders in workplace. It is hard to find people who can work with passion, I can see more pretenders who are hungry for power & politicking in the office. Nobody will remember the milestone you achieved for long and when a slight error inflicted in your work, people tend to put a death sentence to you. So I had made a vow not to let working life kills off my quality lifestyle.

I am spending more of my after work time with my chilling with my buddy talking about business opportunities, discussing about my new house, parasiting his family life while I am single & spend more effort pursuing my next piece of jigsaw puzzle in my life. I spend more time reading blogs & posting at least a post a day to share what is it in me everyday. Blogging has phenomenonly inspire my life and amazingly it had been the best listener for the past 3 years for me.

Now if you excuse me, I gotta continue my PSP God of War. What a life @ 30?!?!?!?

Mikemmery's Attempt To Be A Copywriter

Sorry for not updating for the past few days. Besides my day job, I recently was requested by someone to assist on copy writing. 东涌 , Hong Kong

I have somehow miss HK a lot... blardy a lot... Phew... Back home is not so pleasurable really... My work been piling up and for the past few days since my return, I had been working till late, and by the time I finished, my energy level was so low that I am too tired and not inspired to write any shits here.

Work, work and work and my company sent me away for training again on the 24th-25th... off site full-day training and finally my weekend here back in Melaka, I can finally really sit my fat ass in this comfy sofa to BLOG!!!! ahhhhh.... ok here you go,

"Hujan emas di negara orang, hujan batu di negara sendiri"

These are some very true words, always pleasurable to visit some foreign countries and see how well they managed the country, the people, etc. In Malaysia, we talk about who's country this belongs to, we define Malaysian as bumiputra & non-bumiputra, double standard to own a house, many inequalities, etc.

In Hong Kong, as long as you got the dollar & cents, you will be on the go. On my first night in
东涌 (Tung Chung), waited for my sis as she was at work. I was waiting at this Citygate which housed plenty of branded factory outlets here, Esprit, Benetton, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Adidas, to name a few.

By the time she finished her work, we met up and we went for dinner together with another younger brother of mine who happened to be there honeymooning with his gf. We went to this famous Indian restaurant, which a lot of expatriates patronized this place. At the Tung Chung MTR Station, this restaurant has this pick up service to their restaurant.

The restaurant is known as "Curry Corner", and during my journey there by the pick up service, I met and chatted up with 2 gwai lous from Australia who worked as a private jet pilot in Hong Kong. Now you can imagine how many rich & famous in Hong Kong who owned private jets ya :)

This restaurant looked simple but it serves one of the best curry & massala I ever had in my whole life. I would say equivalent to India. The owner was from India anyway.

Without delay, we browsed through the menu and ordered the food as we felt like hungry ghosts. Ordered a few kind of massala & curries - fish, chicken, mutton, beef & potato. Check out the pictures below;

Tempting? I will be going to HK again end of the year.... anyone interested to join me? And I am not very sure whether these few curry & massala dishes we had expensive or not, the bill came at HKD350 (approx RM175) for 4 persons.

After dinner, went back to my sis place, my first time there. You cannot see any bungalows or link houses here in Tung Chung. What you see will be 70 storeys high condominums & apartments.

My sis stayed in one of these condominiums, the Carribean Coast, with the built up of only about 600sq feet and cost about near to a million ringgit. Crazy huh? That's Hong Kong. Though high in density, the security is tight. You will be greeted all day long by professional local staff in monkey suits. My sis stays in 33rd floor, just a short tour around here with a few pictures of the place that I stayed for the 4 nights I had in HK.

Finally a picture of from the house balcony. Warning: few post to come I will still write about my HK travelogy with plenty more pictures.

Cheers!

Wa Pang Sai Pun Bo Eng

Busy week for me, I have yet to find time to really sit down & focus on my blogging. Just like the subject above, I hardly find time for myself and after this short post I am rushing to Sunway Pyramid for a meeting. Oh ya, stop asking or telling me that Kenny Sia stopped blogging, his way & style of blogging been so predictable, it's some April Fool joke. How in the world he would give up blogging as it is one of the main source of his income? Mai Siao lar, maybe he will give up his day job to be professional blogger someday, my 2 cents.

Cheers!

What Happen To Nuffnang Global CPC Ads?

Guys & gals, I noticed lately, I had not been receiving ads even I set to Global-CPC settings. I am just wondering if any other bloggers having the same experience? My 2nd blog also experiencing the same.

And perhaps Nuffnang can get someone to be active in famous forum like lowyat.net, there is a discussion thread about Nuffnang vs Advertlets. Hope that I will get some ads soon.

And for LG KS20 enthusiasts, I had been having difficulties looking for a screen protector to protect my finger print magnet KS20, I found one compatible in this site. Wondering anyone had actually tried applying it? Need some advice.

Beautiful Sunday, the Devils is a step closer to be crowned the EPL champion. See you on Monday guys!
