Day 3 - Northern Thailand

So back to my travelogue, day 3 in Northern Thailand.

During my stay in Thailand, I am having a rather healthy body clock. Slept around 11PM and woke up 8ish every day. Unlike my days in Malaysia & Hong Kong. I can't sleep last night until 4AM, crazy. That is the problem when you live in big city where the city never sleeps, filled with entertainments.

OK, let's not sway away from the main agenda here. On day 3, woke up at my usual 8ish. Showered and my host decided to bring me to the "Assistant Head of Village" house. In other words if the head of village is President, then this guy would be the VP. Before that, we went for the Thai laksa again as breakfast, then on her motorbike we traveled to our destination.

Arriving at the house, there were many people there already. The guys would be busy making man-made fireworks while the ladies will do preparation for the prayers in celebration of mid-autumn.

Knowing that I am a no-help to them, I just kaypoh kaypoh look see look see only, ample of food and beer throughout. This continues until about 4PM. Then head back home for a shower and quick rest anticipating for the big night.

Waking up, my host already prepared home-cooked stuff for me. While I am doing my dinner, she was busy decorating the exterior of the house with lanterns, it had been a long long time since I seen lanterns hanging around the house - very warm feeling :)

After dinner, dressed up a bit, we proceeded to the temple. I did not take much pictures there as its weird because it seems that I am the only one snapping pictures. Most of the pictures taken was along my journey to the temple. There was a stage where performances will be held. Girls in their traditional costumes from different tribes performed. My host told me some even sing Burmese songs as most of the people in Northern Thailand are Burmese immigrants escaped to Thailand during the tribe-wars in Burma many years ago. Fireworks & chanting can be heard. Many people also bought the big big lantern, where you make a wish, stick it on the lantern and let it rise to the air (this can be seen in Malaysia as well) but I have never seen so many lanterns being released at a go, the sighting was simply amazing but too bad I was too captivated that I did not take a shot of it. As the crowd grew larger, we decided to leave the place as some kids were tagging along with us.

As we were walking along the stretch to the temple, people are enjoying singing, dancing & boozing regardless of age, size, gender or race (it looked a bit like San Pedro celebration in Melaka). I even danced with aunties and strangers, they will buy you beer even if they do not know you, it was really a warm feeling. There is also a corner where girls with fair complexion will dressed up in traditional costumes, they do allow you to dance with them but with a small fee of 10 Baht. Nice! Imagine the Malaysian girls charging RM1 for a dance in the club, it will never happen, Malaysian girls at times act too high class (majority but not all) :P

We ended the night boozing till wee hours at the VP house. He was really happy as this is the first time a man like me from foreign country goes to his house and celebrate with him. Thanks Pip Uun!

To be continue - Day 4.

ps: I spotted a brand new factory outlet at the mall near the place I am staying in Hong Kong, check it out here.

Hennessy Artistry Pictures

Short Note: The difference between barisan najis & pakatan rakyat here.

What a saturday night it is. Glad to see all my LCD TVs working well and pimping the whole Bukit Kiara Indoor Arena for the Hennessy Artistry. Glad the MD of Riche Monde, Frederic is happy with the TV. Thanks for the VIP passes anyway.

Bumped into a few old friends, people from Universal Music, suppliers & clients. I was told most of the bloggers were in Miami, I myself was in Paris with *ahem* (clearing throats) - damn the cocktail still lingering around my body. I thought the cocktails were a bit hard for me to accept, prefer mine to go with ginger ale. Lots of drinks, lots of girls (sexy girls), lots of sweat. Anyone got lucky last night?

Long story short, I got some of these pictures courtesy from Michael Yip. My camera was in someone's bag now. Hmm....

Consecutive of 4 days drinking this week, uhh... "doc, my liver still ok ar?"

Drinking & Clubbing - Code of Ethics

I had slowed down a lot in the clubbing scene this year. Those were the times, many clubs that I usually frequent during my college days here already gone defunct - Emporium, Atmosphere, Nouvo, Viva just to name a few. The only club that is still surviving up to now is The Beach Club.

When we talked about clubbing, how can we not talk bout drinking? If we club & dont drink, it is so incomplete, it is like sex without foreplay. I had gone clubbing with various groups of my friends. I would say I miss my old bunch of club kakis, at least they know what is the real meaning of ethics.

Have you experience before one of those fuckers will keep on knocking your glass asking you to bottom-up? To me, one or two times I really do not mind. But continously a few glasses, and when you refuse to drink, they say you never give face. I mean wtf with giving face or not? I am sharing the cost, I drink as of when I want and I want to enjoy my night and still wake up in the morning without hangovers. Not only that, I hate going with bunch who know the fact that we going Dutch on the cost, they are WASTING liquor like nobody business. Imagine 3 bottles of Black Label for a group of 10 pax in less than an hour. Crazy right?

Things are getting real expensive now. Last I heard there will be a great petrol hike tonight. After BN won the GE12 tragically, this is what they had delivered to us. And we got some talk-cockers keep on stressing on the government subsidy to the rakyat. 8th March, we Rakyat want a change. This time, I want you corruptors out of the government, Goddamnitt!!!

10 Best Things About Mikemmery's CNY

Just reached KL after the long CNY break in Melaka (my hometown). Finishing compressing all the pictures and this is going to be a super duper long post with plenty to share about my happenings on the CNY.

Thanks to Chris for giving me a lift back home to Melaka on Wednesday, it is a very much needed break I had been looking forward to after a long hard days at work. The anticipation to meet up my sis who came back from Hong Kong, meeting up my other siblings for dinner and my mom's cooking which I miss a lot.

I am going to share about the best things about CNY for me...

1. When I open up the fridge... free flow of soft drinks, beers & stouts... kekeke...

Mom's Signature Curry Chicken

Assam Fish Head

Fried Bee Hoon

3. Plenty of junk food, cookies & bak kua - which till now it is no help to my cough, flu, heaty body... but... WHO CARES???

Bee Cheng Hiang & Wo Lai Yeh

4. You got the reason to gamble without nagging from anyone (mahjong, blackjack, Ngau, Rummy, etc) - damn I lost this year: hopefully gonna win later as I am going for mahjong session after this post :P

5. I got every reason to get new clothes to pamper myself. Before everyone thought I am filthy rich with the pictures below, something to clarify: I did not buy any shirt this year, all below were gifts from my sis & my uncle ;) THANK YOU!!!

Nautica Checked Shirt from Sis - HKD580 (RM290)

Year of Rat

I believe many already gone for the week long break applying leaves and heading back to their respective hometown. Myself, I am still very much on work, finishing pending matters so that I can go for my CNY break in peace. It had been a freaking mixed day for me but overall it is a good one.

I am expecting many colorful events to happen this year, mostly I believe all will be positive stuff in this year of rat. My gut feeling is telling me something big is going to happen and I believe it will all be good make it individually myself or the nation with the general election approaching.

I am having a big laugh seeing the tagline in The Star "Bersih Is Rude" , so if clean is rude, dirty is polite ya? No wonder we got some front liners of BN practising free-for-all. Talking about politics, it is never-ending here, too smelly, it's good that some poli-TIKUS actually tackling the issues with a braveheart. My salute to all, I wish to be a poli-TIKUS someday :)

It will still be a full working day for me tomorrow and I shall be going back to my hometown in Melaka either tomorrow late night or early Wednesday morning. So any of you plan to drop by Melaka during this CNY, do buzz me, bug me, email me, I will bring you guys to paint the town red.

I would like to take the opportunity too to wish all my friends, loved ones & readers a very prosperous Chinese New Year & Gong Xi Fa Cai. To those travelling back, safe journey home ya.

I shall be right back... lots of XOXO...

2008 1st Week Summary

I started the New Year with a bang, got myself wasted at The Loft, new assignment in the office with greater power & greater responsibilities. The very first week been good so far minus the crude oil prices that finally hit USD100 per barrel, mark my words, we will see significant price jump in petrol after the general election (talking about our country as the oil exporter... DUH...)

And the most blogable topic now in the first week, our very own Clinton-Lewinsky. Former Health Minister was caught pants down with his "personal friend", I watched the video, conclusion, I can perform better than him... hahahaha... just only because he is one of the key politician in MCA, that is why all the big hoo-haa now.

Plus I spent my very first week with very important people in my life, my colleagues; my buddies & perhaps my new love. Last evening, thanks to Aaris for inviting, spent time with her and my closest childhood friends.

Got ourselves wasted high, thanks to few jugs, buckets & 4 towers of Long Island. Great night, enjoyed myself seeing antics of some of my buddies that I rarely see, thanks to the influence of alcohol baby...

And ending up the first week, the missing piece - tender love & care (TLC)... is she the one??? suspense, suspense...

As I am updating the blog now in Starbucks, Low Yat, I suddenly recalled that tonight I will be joining the KS CBox dinner with the chatbox regulars @ CafeCafe. The dinner is by invitation only, good that will be meeting the rest of peeps that usually chatted over the chatterbox. Hopefully I will not get myself wasted again tonight. HaHa
