Mikemmery Pimped Siem Reap, Cambodia

This trip was planned way back in April when AirAsia was doing their airfare promotion. It was initially a guy with 2 girls trip, but during that many months I managed to tag Alan along, so it was 4 in a party to paint Siem Reap town red :)

A few more post to come, mikemmery will be filled with his experiences in Siem Reap. Thanks to slowcatchupkuan, I managed to get a few tips before I fly off last Wednesday, shall again share the tips here for those who plan for a breakaway from the stressful KL City.

Our trip was 5d/4n, our flight was at 7.30am, I only packed my stuff that midnight itself while Alan had a catnap at my place. Things to bring to Siem Reap:
1. Digital Camera (a MUST - with a lot of memory card)
2. Short Pants - it's hot & easier to walk around temples with shorts
3. T-shirts - plain light shirt, prepare to sweat a lot
4. Sunglasses
5. Cap
6. Sunblock
7. Small tower - did I just mention sweat???
8. Sandal - myself, I wore only a pair of Crocs for the whole trip
9. Tiger Balm - lots of insect bites, itchy itchy itchy...

Myself & Alan went to fetch Angela & met up @ Angeline's place, oh ya let me introduce my travelling companion for this trip.

Alan

Angela (left) & Angeline

Last but not least, my shameless camwhore.

We all met up @ Angeline's place @ about 3am, none of us actually slept. Went mamaking and the limo came & picked us up at 4am, reached LCCT 2 hours before our flight, we were like walking zombie. And I got my first gift for my birthday, I got to thank her here, she's also my avid reader, thanks Angeline for the lovely gift.

Passport checked, boarding pass checked, arrival & departure cards checked, ladies & gentleman, mikemmery gonna paint Siem Reap city red...

Stay tune....

Happy Birthday To Me! 祝我生日快樂

My childhood friends celebrated my birthday in advance about 2 weeks ago. A bunch of old school mates during my primary & secondary school days. All of us were then attending Jacky's wedding and after the wedding, they planned this for myself & another birthday boy, Mike Ang.

Appreciate it a lot, thanks for the lovely cake & I had a real great time refreshing our old younger days filled with plenty of laughters.

A few days before today, I had one of my best colleague farewell & I am missing her antics. She was the one cheering me up all the time. When the stress in the office taken its toll, she always never fail to sing me the "Chicken Rice Shop" song.

She bidded me farewell leaving me her lanyard & an apple. It was so sweet of her. Thanks a lot Vivienne for the short but lovely memories. When I am back, will definitely call you out ya.

So what the hell am I doing here blogging on my big day itself? No worries peeps, in fact, I am very happy for the dozens of wishes I received since yesterday. Was stucked in the meeting for the whole of yesterday (05/11) till about 8.30PM. Rushed back home, showered and rushed to my best friend's place as we had a pre-planned trip to Genting.

Genting in fact brought great memories to me, especially the one with a special friend. In fact, I celebrated my last year birthday with her too. It brought a sudden rush of memories at that moment, I think my best buddies tried to test my EQ during our way up, I managed to keep my cool.

SMSes started pouring in since last night. And using this platform which I can express myself better, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all these important people in my life.

Thanks to SMSes wishers: PrincessEileen, Emmery, MeowYean, JC, Angeline, Nikki, Debbiee, Alex VisionPlus, MikeAng, AndrewTan, Mandy, Herbert, JohnChang, RoyTeh, Jacky & MayKuan. Thanks for the lovely words that gave life to my mobile phone :)

My first ever gift from the blogging community. A surprise birthday gift & thanks Nuffnang, I am one of the TGIF winners :)

I do not think I left out anyone here, if I do, my sincere apologies. I will be out of Malaysia until the end of the week, I am flying off for a breakaway tour to Cambodia. In my absence, I had granted the permission to Princess Eileen to maintain my blog to post whatever she felt like to.

So Mikemmery signing off & going MIA in the blogosphere for a week, this special song I dedicate it to myself. Happy Birthday Mike!

Pizza fHUTck

A few days ago, me & my bunch of colleagues went to Giant Kelana Jaya for lunch. At first we decided to go for Secret Recipe but there were no seats available so we ended up in Pizza Hut (Kelana Jaya Giant).

Please take note that I specifically highlighted this particular branch as it is the WORST pizza hut outlet ever. All my colleagues were so disappointed that they made me to snap pictures & post over my blog to share it with my readers here. So here it goes.

Every table we were greeted with this placard, "Lunch Express : No Fuss. Just Fast!" But to our disappointment it took more than 30 minutes for our meal to arrive, making us feel "Just Fuss, No Fast!" instead. wtf... I never even bother to claim the RM5 rebate for my next purchase, as I had promised myself this will be the last time ever I visit this outlet.

We also ordered Prawn Olio which look so appetizing from the menu, but again a major let down when the spaghetti arrived on our table. Plain seasoned spaghetti with bad presentation. wtf again...

Another colleague of mine ordered set meal Chicken Arabiatta, again food presentation failed us. I do not know what had happened to Pizza Hut, such a poor QC and mind you, it is not the cheapest fast food outlet in town. From the menu, the set meal looks like this...

But when it arrived at our table, it awfully looked like this... I mean wtf right?

Almost everything that arrived on our table, we cursed except for the jug of Coke that came together with the Pizza combo meal set. Even the breadstix tasted like it was a leftover a few days earlier, cold & hard. It seriously tested our patience to the maximum.

Finally the pizza arrived, we can no longer take this kind of torture that I requested to speak to the manager. He came to our table looked nervous, I kept my cool and only requested for a comment form.

I am not very sure if my comment slip ever makes its way to the management of Pizza Hut or not (I doubt it), but just my reminder to the manager that they need major improvement. As I filled up the form with complaints, the manager was kind enough to get us another jug of Coke complimentary. And after I passed the comment slip to him, he read it and immediately changed our breadstix & prawn olio.

Now look at the difference of my previous picture, so much better right the presentation of the food? I mean if there is QC, nothing is impossible. I myself had been in the service industry before, I am saddened such a big organization like Pizza Hut can insult its customers with such a service. Sad case!

All pictures was taken with LG 3G Shine KU970 as I was not equipped with my digital camera on that day.

Any bad experience in Pizza Hut before???

Marche @ The Curve

Few weeks back I pimped this restaurant in The Curve. A nice cosy place to have a good meal. A bit on the pricey side, but it had been worthy. The concept is pretty simple, you will be given a meal card at the entrance, card will be stamped each & every time you go over the food counter and choose what you want. Here are some of the pictures taken. Enjoy!

Nice? I craving for Bah Kut Teh, how? Anyone?

1st Date Guides

It's been quite a while since I last went for a date. Recently, the blogosphere being hit with this Hugo lovey dovey thingy about boys-girls relationship thingy. Personally I felt it is a bit too commercialized & big bloggers tend to be pretentious and not themselves in posting those thingy. It is more like what the advertiser want it to be. Don't you guys & gals think so?

Personally, I am not a guru in dating but for me (my 2 cents), the most basic rule, BE YOURSELF, try not to make things complicated by acting like somebody else to impress the other party. Try to understand your date, strike the right conversation at the right time, try not to be much of a "kayu" during the first date. Do not carry the thinking that you want to get something out from the 1st date, be friendly. Be confident with yourself, the way you carry yourself, your words might affect your subsequent dates.

Do not impress by taking her for a 5-stars dinner. Be simple, be modest. If a girl judge you by the restaurant that you are bringing her to or the car that you are driving, by all means, drop her off your list. When deciding the place/restaurant/joint, be a commander, not "apa pun boleh" or leave it to the girl to decide. Just like in dancing move, you lead & command, the girls follow your steps :)

After the first date outing, if she's driving to meet you, make sure you walk her to her car after the outing, wait till she enters into the car, remind her to SMS you when she reaches home. If you are driving your date out, make sure when you drop her off, be sure that she'd entered her house.

The above mentioned is purely my 2 cents, there might be minority of girls disagree with me that I am spoiling the dating market. In fact I learnt a lot from the video below, he's my guru...

Now the question here is, is mikemmery dating?

One Sweet Day

It's 8.03PM now, I am still in the office. This is my 2nd subsequent post in tribute of my best friend's mom who passed away peacefully yesterday. Minority of my friends in KL & Singapore perhaps are already down in Melaka to pay their very last respect, I am deeply sorry for not being able to go down myself due to work commitment, though we are brothers from different mothers, deep down we felt the same, as we grow up together, been through the journey together.

This was taken back almost 8 years back. To my best friend who reading this, auntie will shine on you from heaven, I specially dedicate this song for you, my brother.

Sorry i never told you
All i wanted to say
And now it's too late to hold you
'cause you've flown away
So far away

Never had i imagined
Living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me
It keeps me alive
Alive

And i know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And i know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Darling, i never showed you
Assumed you'd always be there
I took your presence for granted
But i always cared
And i miss the love we shared

And i know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And i know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day
Lord i know when i lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as i pray

And i know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And i know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Sorry i never told you
All i wanted to say

Fragile

Life is indeed fragile, today I felt lost & pain of a best friend I regard as brother. I am saddened with the news of his mom demise this morning, I was stunned as I had just seen her mom few days back with much joy & happiness. It reminds me of how fragile this life is, the story moved me emotionally that I felt tears on my eyes. The same story that touched my heart a while ago.

I called mom immediately, I shared my thoughts with her and like a little child she consoled me, mommy thanks.

My sincere deepest condolences to my friend, I shall not reveal his identity, and I know that he is my blog reader too.

ps: the past posting, let's forget & forgive, I hope she learnt from what it is, & she also had since removed the post. Kate, never judge or degrade a person. You and me, we are afterall human, we need to learn to respect each other and appreciate life.
